Daycare
In the heart of the Beechmount area Blackie River Community Groups provide a comprehensive range of day-care services. Our services are for children from 6 weeks old to 4 years. We have a variety of different rooms, to suit all ages. We have a baby room for children from 6 weeks old- 18 months. We have a 1-2 room, a toddler room for children aged 2-3 years and a pre-school room for children aged 3-4. This allows children to have social and educational experiences before they begin nursery, or school. Each child has a key worker which makes their experiences personal every day. Our planning is based on childrens interests, regular observations we take of children and on the preschool curriculum, and early years “this is me” milestones.
Each room will plan weekly for the children in their room; this will plan for their holistic development- which includes social, intellectual, emotional and physical development. We treat each child as individuals, and take observations on their day to day learning. These observations enable us to plan to progress their development.
An important part of our day-care is communicating with parents/ guardians and ensuring we are continually evaluating our service in order to meet their needs. We communicate daily to parents and are beginning to do so through the use of “My Nursery Pal”, which is an APP based forum which gives parents individual codes to sign in and observe what their child has done each day, they will get live updates, including photographs.
We also provide daily a variety of healthy meals and snacks for all the children in our care. All meals are prepared and cooked on the premises. Meals are planned in advance on a three week rotation, which gives the children a variety of a well balanced diet.
All day-care and afterschool staff are highly qualified, and all have got at least a level 3 CCLD qualification or are studying for such, 75% or our current room leaders have Childcare Management and leadership level 5 qualification, our childcare coordinator has a wide range of qualifications including working with children with autism, level 5 leadership & management. All staff have a genuine love for working with children, and so our environment always reflects this. We aim to be welcoming, friendly, educative and loving for all children. We hope this is reflected in our communications with parents, our observations, our planning and our displays including photos you may find around the building.
